Ciel: Environmental Artist for Stitched Together

At Page to Pixel Publishing, we care about our dev teams and love to nerd out about all the cool stuff that goes into their video game creation – whether it be music, art, programming, voice acting, editing, testing, all of it. We recognize that not everyone gets such an in-depth look at the teams, the hard work they put into their games, and their journeys on becoming who they are, so we want to share that with you!

For this dev blog, we interviewed Ciel (they/them), the environmental artist on Stitched Together from Tekkou Studios. We wanted to understand their background in creating art, their favorite part about making a game, and share any advice they have for future artists and gamers.

Let’s get into it!

What is your background in making a game and how did you get into creating art?

“I have a video game art and animation degree and I’ve worked on this and another game.

I was always told I could draw before I could talk. So, I don’t know the reason why I started but the reason I continue is because it’s what fills me with the most joy.”

What’s your favorite part about making Stitched Together?

“Working with Adam [Game Director]. He’s been really great and watching how the game grows more and more every day.”

What was a problem while creating Stitched Together that stumped you? How did you get through it?

“Time management – I work and go to school full time… That’s the biggest struggle and the way I found time working on Stitched Together is during my lunch breaks and down time at work.”

What is something you could talk about for hours when it comes to creating art?

        “Animations and animating.”

Is there a special routine or environment that you have to be in to do your best work for game creation?

“I can make art wherever and whenever I find the time to do it.”

What advice do you have for other artists in the gaming community?

“Just keep pushing forward and network. Networking is worth everything.”

How can we all help continue to make the game industry a little bit better?

“By encouraging more indie projects and advertising indie projects more.”
